GOVERNING REGULATIONS

The Search for The Great Pumpkin will be run in accordance with the 1996 NER/SCCA Road Rally Regulations (Amended), as further amended by the event's General Instructions .

A limited number of printed copies of the unamended 1996 Regulations (Edition Last Updated: 04-Feb-96) will be available from the Registrar ($4.00).   The unamended 1996 Regulations are also available online at www.goss.com/rrregs.htm.   The unamended 1996 Regulations.   Official Amendments to the Regulations were approved by the NER Road Rally Board  in 2001 and 2003.   The amendments  are available online on www.ner.org/Rally/rallyreg_amends.html.

Pagination in the 1996 printed edition is cited herein, and is different from pagination in the version downloaded from the site cited above.  The online version contains a transcription error at Article II-2, Section D 2.  This Section should end after its fourth (4th) sentence, "Emergency speeds are in effect until cancelled by the rally committee."  The text in the online version following this sentence is extraneous, and does not apply.

The 2001 Amendments concern Class Limitations and the Glossary definition of the term, turn.   [Click on the NER link above for the full official text.]

  • Use of GPS requires competing in Class A

  • Class B computation equipment must not receive direct input from any distance measuring device.   All inputs for distance must be made manually.

  • Previous competition in Championship Classes A, B, & C precludes competition in Class D.

  • The amended definition of the Glossary term, turn, is re-iterated in the The Search's General Instructions.

The 2003 Amendments concern the new Championship Class S and a special limitation on entry in Class D.   In summary   --

  • Class S equipment is limited to stock odometer in stock location, and non-programmable calculator.

  • Class D (Novice) is not open to persons who have 50 or more Championship points at the beginning of the competition year.
